The building of Isfuglen - a Pathfinder designed by John Welsford measuring 5,25 m in length, 1,95 m wide and weighs about 210 kg.

The big sailing dinghy was largely constructed in Denmark, finished and painted in the south of France and subsequently denied registration in France because it was amateur built ! I was advised to have the boat tested and certified by a company like Lloyd's which would probably have cost more than the value of the boat.

Without registration the boat is illegal and cannot be insured or placed in a marina. This drama took place in Sète. The outcome could very well have different in another French department or with other person's involved. That's France for you…

After a long battle I gave up and sold it. Isfuglen is now happily (and legally) living in Italy.
